Thai
Son Vietnamese Restaurant
East Oltorf Next To Click’s Billards.
Vietnamese
cuisine is a novel way to dine for most of us raised on Mac and
Cheese and White Bread. The components of these mostly traditional
meals of meat or meat by-product, and starch seem rather unfamiliar.
Tastes like a gamelan sounds. But look closer at the food and the
staff of the restaurant, and you will discover what I figured out
while having a delicious and reasonably priced meal at Thai Son
(in the location of the long favorite and recently departed Pho
Cong Ly Vietnamese Restaurant). Oh, you haven’t time to look?
I’ll tell you instead, unimaginative one. Vietnamese food
is the combination of Mexican Food without the cheese and Italian
Food. There it is. I fucking said it. Noodles, Grilled Meat, Lettuce,
and Jalepenos. Get it? Even the burritos...er, uh...eggrolls taste
similar to something I got off a taco truck on 6th one morning.
The tale-tell heart in this surrealistic gustitory experiment was
the Tejano blaring from the kitchen and the Virgin of Guadelupe
Tats on our server. The options on the menu are simple enough to
be idiot-prooof for a retarded monkey like me, and good Lordy- Lord,
the iced Vietnamese coffe was high octane jet fuel. Do yourself
a huge personal favor, and overlook the somewhat sketchy interior
decor and get yer grub on in true austin/mexican/italian style.

happy Nude Year......... FoodLude.
